A perfect picture, indeed.

On Friday, I officially sold Brandi. The thought still invokes emotion, but in a good way. You see, I sold her to Tracy, for Mackenzie. They've been riding together, and doing really well with each other. Kenzie has really grown attached to her, and told me that she loves Brandi. And I can tell Brandi loves her. What a good little horse, with the most perfect girl for her. Here they are riding down to Lake Michigan today!

As usual, I didn't give Brandi enough credit. What an amazing little horse. Yes, Tracy whipped her in to shape the other week. She said it wasn't pretty. :) But, that's all Brandi needs. And look, now she is happy as can be with her new girl. :) I told Tracy that maybe someday if/when Kenz outgrows Brandi, I may buy her back. Funny thought! Heck, in several years I may be able to afford to have her and Tex both. You just never know what turns life will take.

As for Texas, I have not ridden him since the clinic. One, my saddle seems to slip from side-to-side on him. Two, I feel like I need to gain respect completely, and not be afraid AT ALL on the ground. I've been studying Clinton Anderson's method, joined his No Worries Club (mate!) and would like to purchase his Fundamentals package. I know me, and I have to make absolutely sure that I put that in to effect when I get it, and follow through! Clinton of course makes it look easy, like Tracy does. But I've also proven to myself that you only get better when you keep at it - CONSISTENCY! I can do it. Texas is such an easy-going boy and he is just what I need for my partner. In one of Clinton's books, I read that it's best for me to do three consecutive days of training in a row, in order for him to retain what he's learned. So, I need to sit down with my family and establish those days and make a plan for how things will run around here on those days. Maybe I can go up in the mornings before work - I've done that before, and hey, it'd be dark at night anyway! And really, what a great way to start the day. :) In the beginning, I won't need to wear my helmet so I can do my hair before I go. I have to think that one out for sure. :) But we're gonna do it.

We're gonna do it.
